This lighthouse was originally constructed in 1909 and contained only the fog signal equipment. There originally were two lights here in a range light setup. The front light was built in 1891 and stood 24 feet and the rear light was 42 feet in height. The old front light was removed in 1931 and a new square tower was built on top of the east end of the fog signal building. The station measured 18 feet by 54 feet and 23 feet high to the top of the roofline. The lower half of the building is steel-framed and covered with 1/4 inch steel plate. The upper portion is wood-framed with a shingle exterior. The steel tower measures 10 feet 2 inches square, and has an octagonal cast iron lantern. The lens is 45 feet above the water, is a fixed fifth order fresnel that was made by Barbier and Fenestre of Paris
