West Quoddy Head Lighthouse located on the far eastern tip of Maine. The light was originally built in 1807 under orders of Thomas Jefferson and then rebuilt in 1858. The light originally had a bell which was required to be struck by hand during foggy weather. In 1869 a steam whistle was installed.
